Using EzineArticles to advertise your website

I recently signed up to EzineArticles after I read about it on experimentsinpassiveincome.com.  I was initially reluctant – althought I don’t know why.  I guess at the minute, this blogging is still leaving me a little self conscious about my writing.  Even though as part of my career I have written many articles and been reviewed by peers and various supervisors, I still feel that way.

Anyway, I signed up – it’s free!  If you’re interested, check out EzineArticles here.

I pondered over what articles to share.  After a little reading around the benefits of using their site, I decided to submit some of what I thought were my best articles.  You can see yourself that there are not many.

When you join, you are a “Basic Member” and you are allowed to submit 10 articles.

So I submitted all articles related to my PhD category that I am writing about here.  I also decided to share the article on the importance of backing up your documents.

As a basic member, it can take a while for the articles to be reviewed – in my impatience, I checked the member area several times a day!

I got lucky, and after 48hrs, my articles were going through the review process.

My first two articles on the Surviving your PhD were accepted.  I couldn’t believe it.  I felt good!  Reassured that my work must be of a decent standard!  Though this is where the joys ended.  The next 5 articles were rejected.  Four of them had no reason, and the 5th was because I accidentally left in an affliate link.

Anyway, I updated the documents – the set of four needed some hyperlink tags removed as they were not allowed.  The fifth, I removed the affiliate link and re-submitted.

Earlier this afternoon, all of my articles were accepted and live on the website.

Thus far, my articles have collectively been read 34 times.  My profile page has been read 5 times, and I have had readers clicking to go back to my site.  I’m quite pleased with this, and look forward to the next few days to see how it reflects in my analytics.  Oh, I forgot to mention one of my articles was voted on, 5/5!

I guess I’d best get used to this blogging – the majority of posts I have made on other blogs have been well received, and people have been polite and supportive of me having a go.

I’ve shared my initial experiences with EzineArticles.  Have you used it?  How were your experiences?  Have you witnessed increased traffic?

  • I’ve heard some great things about EzineArticles, but just as many bad things. I hope everything goes well with you and your work over at EzineArticles, and I can’t wait to hear about how it went so I can decide if it’s worthy of my time!

    Good luck!

  • Hi Joe,
As I post this, I have had my articles read a total of 53 times. I’ve a click through rate of 7.6% – not too bad.

I was a little sceptical using Ezine to start – I’m not sure why. I hadn’t heard any problems really. I think it’s maybe early days for me to be recommending it. I’ve noticed a serious dip in visitors because I haven’t been commenting or blogging these past two days.

Alexa has sky rocketed however – it must lag by at least 48hrs

    Cheers for dropping by!

  • Hey Mark!

First and foremost, congratulations on being accepted, published, voted on and getting traffic back to your site. That’s awesome and I hope it’ll pay off in spades.

I haven’t started submitting to article directories yet, but it’s definitely something in the back of my mind. Can’t argue with free traffic, right?

    • Hi Jillian,
      Thank you!

Free traffic is always great. I need to pay more attention to the keywords I’m using on Ezine though – I’d like more free traffic :)

      Thanks for calling by!
