Blog Posts – Spice it up with personality!

Recently you may have noticed that my site has been a little quiet.  Posts have been very infrequent, and my responses to comments lagging.  However, I have an excuse -stop groaning – it’s a valid excuse.  However, before I delve into my excuse(s), let me introduce this post.  I’m using my lack of posting (and it’s rationale) to inspire a post.

The power of personality is something we can all use.  You’ve probably read about it before, that personality intrigues people.  To wet your appetites a little further, this post includes some pictures too.  Anyway – I’ll stop boring you.

I got married!

Yes folks, I’m a happily married man now!  Some of you may have known that I was getting married, and would be away.  However, for the majority of you, I was away for 3 weeks in Florida – to Disney!  We got married on November 3rd, at the Swan resort (near Epcot).

The day went brilliantly – all smooth without a problem!  We’d a scare the day before, with threatening bad weather – the first rain in Florida for some 6 weeks!  However, rain resisted, and we had beautiful 28C sun shine splitting the sky!  Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

In other news…

I Passed my Phd Exam

I have passed my PhD exam, and pending the submission of my corrected thesis, will graduate with my PhD, hopefully in the summer.  It’s been great to get it out of the way.  Far too may sleepless nights writing!

Why Inject Personality into a Post

The purpose of this post was to bring many of my readers up to speed with why things haven’t been so busy lately.  However, experience has shown me that some of the most popular posts on any blog are those with personality.  Something about the author.

Blogging is another form of social media, which is much more expressive than Twitter or FaceBook.  One of the core aspects of social media is engaging with people, and thriving upon human curiosity to meet and learn about other people.

Often online, people are a lot more out going than in real life, simply because they have some security in being remote from their readers.  However, as readers we like to feel engaged with the author.  One of the best things any author can do on their blog is write an About page.  It explains a little about the author, and helps boost that engagement.

However, often when you write your about page, you cover the main issues.  Personal posts are an alternative, that can be written on the fly, and are often quite useful fillers when you want to give your readers a break from the really useful information you provide through your blog.

I’ve written personally inspired posts before, for example, here are 10 things you may not know about me.  This post as well is a personally inspired post.

Posts like these spill out even more information about you, that is not always of first interest to the reader, but adds further value to their experience.

I leave you with a challenge, or rather, a small task that will be rewarding to you.  Write a post about yourself, inspired by something recent in your life, and link it below in a comment.  Why?  Share yourself with your readers, and earn a free backlink!  I look forward to reading about you.

Hmm! my personality in my blog? I never thought about it, may be I should give a trial soon. I’ve always worn my professional garment when I blog thinking its all my readers would need looking at the blog genre. I’ll sure try a change of garment- personality garment.
