Resources
Here I share with you the resources I have used to get my website up and running, as well as featuring some products that I have used, and thoroughly recommend, to improve my blogging skills.
Domain Registration
I manage all of my domains separately from my hosting. It means should I ever want to change host, then all I need do is change the DNS settings on my domain management system. I use Name Cheap which offers affordable domains, as well as a free WHOIS guard!
Website Hosting
I host my websites on Host Gator. They offer very affordable hosting packages from $4.95 per month. You get unlimited space, as well as virtually unlimited everything else. The packages are excellent, and you have total control over your website using the CPanel interface!
If you sign up with Host Gator, I have a coupon code, which entitles you to getting a $9.94 reduction on your sign up bill!
When registering, enter “bloggersjournal1cent“, into the coupon/offer code box, without the quotes.
Search Engine Optimisation
Search engine optimisation focuses on getting your website to rank high on the Google search results. This is a fundamental for any blogger. I learned about SEO using the SEO Revenge eBook. You can read my SEO Revenge Review!
Another excellent resource that I recommend to improve your search engine optimisation is a plugin, Keyword Winner. You use this keyword research tool to find low competition keywords.
An excellent premium tool that I use to find golden nugget keywords is Market Samurai. This software offers a free keyword research module, however offers many premium modules which are excellent resources for assessing keyword competition and monetising my websites.
Website Marketing
Website marketing aims to gain exposure to your website. I use a variety of sources, typically Google (SEO, above) and Twitter. You can learn how to harness the power of Twitter to engage with prospective readers, and drive traffic to your blog/website.
A much more common and traditional method in online marketing is the use of email. There are a variety of mailing services, however I use Mail Chimp. I use them because for smaller websites they are free, however also offer a variety of easily manageable premium services as well – that’s flexibility for you!
Make Money Online
I’ve recently started to try and earn money online, and have started to see some conversions. I’ve used a number of methods, but by far, one of the most straight forward that has brought me some success is Google Sniper.
An alternative to paying out for the Google Sniper system, is to use some alternatives. The Cost Per Click (CPC) network, Chitika, will display adverts on your website based on whether or no you have received search engine traffic. If you have, adverts relevant to the incoming keywords will be displayed!
An alternative is the Cost Per Action (CPA) network, CheckMyStats. With this network you sign up and display adverts which you feel relevant to your website. You get paid differently to CPC networks because instead of earning money per click, you get paid when that user performs a particular action on the advertisers website.
